DAN BROWN

I am so thankful that i took this class this year, because it introduced me to the god who is Dan Brown. Oh my, his novels are thrilling, suspenseful and you actually learn by reading them. When i read DaVinci Code, that was the only thing that i did for a week, my whole life was so absorbed by this novel. I would literally start reading at 3 o'clock when i got home from school and read for a good 4 hours every day. The novel was about 464 pages and 130 chapters, but the chapters were like 3 - 5 pages (10 at the most) and each chapter ended in a cliffhanger so i just had to keep reading. there was nothing that i disliked about his writing style either because he had sneaky way of teaching me all about ancient history with out me even noticing!
Dan Brown must have done months years of research to be able to flawlessly write a believable story about the discovery of the Holy Grail, i am still not sure if what he wrote about is completely true, but i shall do some research and find out.... http://catholiceducation.org/articles/facts/fm0035.html....Well that was disappointing So basically everything in the novel is proven to be false. But isn't that the fun part about conspiracy theories, the possibility that the conspiracies are correct and "the truth" has tricked so many over the years.

Luckily for me i got to read not only one but two Dan Brown books this year. DaVinci Code and Deception Point. Deception Point was just as good as the first. Dan always makes such interesting characters, he makes you wish that you were as smart as them. His characters are always so much smarter than me and figure things out so effortlessly and it makes me jealous. Dan Brown is an amazing author and i will deffinately read more from him in the future.

  1. I am also grateful that in Readers' Choice I got the opportunity to discover and enjoy new books and authors, such as Dan Brown. Brown's writing style is additively thrilling and his relatable characters grow to be your friends as you continue into his adventure and risk everything to discover truth. I would not be too disappointed about the historical flaws in Brown's work. His novel cast such a negative light on the Catholic Church by exaggerating past atrocities motivated by fear and power that obviously the modern Catholic Church will negate every connection and act defensively to prevent any fringe members from being swayed. Anyway, the Bible is not any more of a historical document than Dan Brown's books, they are both written by opinionated men long after Jesus died, so believe whichever story you like. I am dumbfounded that religious organizations take such an offensive against Dan Brown, who writes satire on organized religion, but maintains respectable moral code through his protagonists. The church's reaction to his fictional work, I believe, reveals more about what the church cares about, power and control, and what they have forgotten, morals, than anything else.

  2. I agree with you, about Dan Brown being a great author. I'm also glad I've read one of his novels. I've always wanted to read "The DaVinci Code," because it sounded good, and I've heard good things about the book. Although it was a very long book, I thought it was really interesting. Like you said, every chapter had suspense in it. After reading this book I also wondered whether some of this was real. When I read about the Last Supper scene I went home and looked at the painting I have of the Last Supper, to see if what the book said was real. And it was! But sometimes I feel skeptical about whether the things in the book were real or not. I am glad you like Dan Brown, and i'm also looking forward to reading more books written by him.
